Project Team Assignments
Because of the size of the class, we will be able to have presentations of the final project, which are tenatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 (the last day of class). Each presentation will be 15 minutes duration.
Each team of students will collaborate on identifying a paper published in the recent literature on dynamic treatment regimes (recent = published in 2019 or later) that reports on methodology that goes beyond the foundational material discussed in class. Statistical journals that publish such papers include but are not limited to Biometrics, Biometrika, Journal of the American Statistical Association, Statistics in Medicine, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B, and Biostatistics.
Teams should email the instructor to propose candidate papers before starting to develop slides for their presentation. Slides should also be emailed to the instructor priior to the presentations.
Each team will prepare a set of slides (no more than 20) presenting a summary of the key methodology proposed in the paper, using the notation developed in this course (to the extent possible), along with a discussion of how the methodology is related to work reviewed in the course and anything else the team finds relevant. The slides should make the main, big ideas and advances the paper accessible to anyone with the same background in this area gained from the course (e.g., fellow students). Thus, the emphasis should be on the big picture and not on technical details.
